Regional Project Coordinator, Kenya

The Regional Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and managing the teams and partners in Uganda and Kenya. This position reports to the Deputy Director-Programs in the country program where the position is based. This position manages no staff directly, but rather performs a coordination function.

Key Responsibilities
• Project Quality: Ensure project design and coordination that contributes to enhanced quality and strategic interventions at the community-level in line with IRC’s Program Framework and best practices in the area of peace building an conflict mitigation
• Project Implementation: Responsible for all ensuring that project is implemented and managed effectively, according to the proposal and all donor regulations
• Representation and advocacy: High quality representation of organization and project through internal and external coordination and advocacy opportunities
• Partner Management: Partners are supported through effective management of sub-grants, which includes regular monitoring of activities and appropriate capacity mapping and development

Requirements
• An advanced degree in a related discipline such as Governance and Rights; Conflict Mitigation; Civil Society development
• Minimum 5 year’s overseas’ relevant work experience in program management and development with community driven and partnership approaches in a post-conflict setting
• Demonstrable experience in human resources, donor compliance, financial and operational management. Experience of implementing project/s funded by the European Commission highly desirable
• Experience coordinating multi-faceted projects and teams across several locations, preferably in the Horn and East Africa region

Specific Security Situation/Housing:

The security situation in Nairobi and Kampala is relatively calm with street crime being the most significant threat. In the field, there are some isolated threats related to inter-clan conflicts and potential cross-fire.

In the city of the duty station, housing is individual and must be located by the employee. IRC will provide an allowance to assist with rent and bills. In field sites, guesthouses or hotel accommodation will be provided.
